I meant Claret and Hugh, of course.

Here's what he wrote YESTERDAY.

C&H

Great news on Adrian contract

West Ham will not be rushing into new contract talks with goalkeeper Adrian despite his contract running out at the end of the season.

Re: Adrian signs new contract
This can't be true!!

Claret and Blue reported only yesterday that Adrian's contract won't be even looked at until the end of the season - surely an 'insider form the club' would have told him otherwise.

Nope, this must be a spoof video. C&B is never wrong.

It's good to like him, he's becoming quite reasonable keep.

Best of the line ever maybe.

Re: Adrian signs new contract
Personally thnk 2 years or 3 years with a 2 year option should be the standard club contract. Fixed 5 year contracts like we gave Noble are mental...loss of form, changing club stature, injury, chang eof manager and all that brings...all things than in a 5 year period in football fluctuate massively and can mean a player is surplus to requirements. 5 years gives you no flexibility except a hefty whack to get rid.

The only players I'd look to get on a 5 year are players you are looking to sell (so as to maximise their resale value), or young players destined for the top of the game where the risk is low (assuming we sign Lanzini, based on current evidence he'd fall into that bracket for me).

Once they're passed 25, more than 2 or 3 years plus option makes no sense.

Re: Adrian signs new contract
Three years with a two year option sounds perfect to me.

He's only getting better at the moment.

That is all. You pedantic bastard.

"but surely this makes sense to you?"

Nope, just because one player is given a contract that's a bit too long doesn't mean we have to dish those out to other players.

Four years is plenty and if he's still in good form, still number 1 etc etc in three years time then we look at a new deal.

If he loses form etc etc then we are not stuck with a player on a contract that's got years to run.

Great bit of business

Re: Adrian signs new contract
Noble got a 5 year contract at 27. I dont see why a a 28 year old keeper shouldnt be given the same, albeit with a two year option.

I know you like to argue the minutiae of everything, but surely this makes sense to you?

theaxeman 6:28 Fri Oct 2

I think he dominates his area well enough and he catches the ball.

Yes he could be calmer but then that's not his style and watch connects him to the fans.
